A carefully preserved 18th-century plantation, Middleton
Place is home to America's Oldest Landscaped Gardens.
Middleton Place was acquired by Henry Middleton in
1741, and was the family seat for four successive
generations of nationally prominent Middletons. Today,
this National Historic Landmark includes the Gardens,
the Plantation Stableyards, and the Middleton Place
House Museum. The Middleton Place Restaurant is open
every day for lunch and dinner; the Middleton Place
Museum Shop is open to visitors and the public every

Encounter America's heritage in a house that survived the Revolutionary and Civil
Wars. Drayton Hall is the oldest preserved plantation house (circa 1738) in America
that is open to the public. It is a historic site of the National Trust for Historic
Preservation and a National Historic Landmark. Scenic marsh and river walks,
African-American programs, picnic areas, and a museum gift shop are just some
of the many offerings.
